Bellevue Christian Church is a congregation of children, youth, and adults of all ages that exists to introduce people to Jesus Christ, to teach and help them grow to be more like Him, to nurture and care for each other as Children of God, and to go out into our community and beyond. Through this mission, we believe God is calling us to be a significant influence in our community. We are a member congregation of the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the The Disciples symbol is a red chalice
bearing the "x"-shaped Cross of Disciples congregations accept members on a simple profession of their belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, which is traditionally followed with baptism by immersion (although Christians who already have been baptized, by whatever method, are not expected to be re-baptized). With baptism, persons are received into the full fellowship of the Bellevue Christian congregation. Bellevue Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) exists to bring people to Jesus and membership in His family, to
teach and to help them to grow, to nurture and care for each other, and to
minister to the wider community in order to magnify God’s name. We stand behind these Values: †
We offer God our best
in all things. †
We strive to treat
all people justly. †
We walk humbly with
God. †
We seek to reflect
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and
self-control (the fruits of the Spirit - Galatians 5:22-23) As a member congregation of the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ), Bellevue Christian Church welcomes persons of
all backgrounds to worship and work with us. Two really important things to us are communion and baptism. We celebrate communion, or the Lord's Supper, each time we get together to praise God. The communion table is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ, whether they are church members or not. We believe that Christ heals the pain of human separation around the communion table. People who become Christians in a
Disciples congregation do a couple of things. First, they come forward to say
"I believe that Jesus is the Christ, Son of the Living God, and I
proclaim him Lord and Savior." Then, usually at a later date, they are
baptized - that is, they are lowered fully under water as an act of obedience
to Christ. People who have been baptized by another form in another Christian
tradition are welcome. They don't have to be immersed to join our church. It is important, no matter what your age or interests, that you find a place to fit in your church home. We offer a variety of studies, fellowships and opportunities to work with people of all ages and interests. While Disciples honor no human-made creed, the preamble to a document called The Design for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) poetically and prayerfully expresses our shared affirmations in this way: As members of the Christian
Church, |
